Many of the life insurance salespersons responsible for recruiting agents, take the task of agency recruitment very lightly. Agency recruitment is largely left to luck and chance. If by chance one comes across a candidate who is willing to become an agent, unit managers jump at the opportunity. This, however, does not result in quality recruitment. More often than not the unit manager is left with a non-performing agent. This in turn leads to negativity in the team and inactive agents and equally important, frustration for the unit manager.

So, how does one escape from all this negativity?

Team building is a personal activity. It cannot be sub-contracted or outsourced. You have in your mind a picture of who is likely to be a good agent with you. I will have a different picture. If you outsource the activity of recruiting agents to me, I may not fill your team with the right candidates. Team building should be taken up at a personal level.

Having said that, it is important to know the importance of recruitment. In other articles in this series, I have mentioned why it is important to recruit regularly. (Click on this link to know why recruitment activities must be conducted daily https://www.helpindiainsure.iistpune.in/2025/10/30/why-recruitment-activities-must-be-conducted-daily/ ). In this article I want to emphasize the importance of conducting recruitment activities as a compulsory daily task.

Importance of Daily Work on Recruitment Activities

Working on recruitment activities (Click on this link to know what are recruitment activities https://www.helpindiainsure.iistpune.in/2025/10/28/recruitment-ki-shakti-series-what-are-recruitment-activities/) on a daily basis is your only guarantee of getting the number of agents that you think you need and at the same time increase your chances of getting agents who work on a daily basis. Getting agents who can get business regularly is a function of

  1. Having sufficient number of agents in your team
  2. Constantly studying your recruitment strategy in the light of your experiences
  3. Preparing new strategies based on your learnings
  4. Testing the new strategies by recruiting agents
  5. Working closely with your team once they are recruited

If you do not work on recruitment activities daily most of the points mentioned above remain incomplete or not attended to. Recruitment Ki SHAKTI, a course conducted by IIST teaches you how to work systematically and daily.
