_______________
Do you see agency recruitment as an exercise you would rather not do? Is it a task that you see as drudgery – a painful, but cannot-avoid-it sort of activity? Just about managing to meet your recruitment targets? There is no need to believe so.
Recruiting agents is a noble task
You are doing a noble task, recruiting agents. You are giving people a source of income. In most cases, it is a much-needed income. Maybe a housewife who lost her husband and must now earn money to feed her family. Maybe a young person who is not getting a job. Maybe a middle-aged person who is in deep debt and would like to repay that debt by taking up an agency career. Maybe an elderly man who needs a lot of money for medical purposes. Maybe a socially downtrodden person who is not getting opportunities to earn money. And so many other cases of economic deprivation which an agency career offers a ray of hope to do well in life.
You are offering such persons a hope, the opportunity to dream for success.
Activities to undertake during the recruitment process
But when you are undertaking the recruitment activities do such noble thoughts come to your mind? If not, it is time you gave yourself a different way to look at agency recruitment.
- Consider that you are helping people, not just meeting your recruitment targets.
- Just as you are raising your personal family, consider that you are also raising a professional family.
- While recruiting discuss personal and family details of he candidate, so that the candidate gets an emotional connect with you.
- Visit the homes of candidates at least once before taking the candidate into your team.
- During the home visit interact with his family members.
- Once selected, introduce the new agent to the rest of your team in an informal manner.
Undertaking such activities helps the candidate connect with you emotionally and will prepare him to accept you as his or her leader. Connecting in an emotional manner from the stage of recruitment is very important to build a team that works for you.
